Bracknell Improvement District Underpass Mural
Lynne was commissioned to design and create a large mural based on the theme sustainability within the Oldbury/Downmill Road Pedestrian Link Subway in Bracknell, Berkshire.
The project was funded by Bracknell Business Improvement District (BID), supported by Bracknell Forest Council.
Bracknell BID commissioned this mural project for both sides of the underpass which runs between the two business districts. It was part of the BID’s wider strategy to improve pedestrian and cycleway links throughout the BID area, and encourage businesses and workers to take up wellbeing activities. The subway is regularly used by pedestrians and cyclists who work in the area.
For this large scale public arts project Lynne was the lead artist and designer. Lynne project managed all aspects of the works. Lynne coordinated a small team of local volunteers over a period of 15 days to paint and varnish both sides of the underpass.
Danny who works at the local Waitrose depot sent this lovely email to the Bracknell Business Improvement District about the mural:
''Please can I say a huge thank you to the lovely ladies who have painted the subway, and all who commissioned it. My walk to work has certainly been made brighter, and everyone I know thinks it looks really good and coupled with a contemporary theme. It's great to see people stop and admire it.''
Project Testimonial
“It was a pleasure to work with Lynne on a mural project commissioned for the Business Improvement District. Lynne developed a contemporary, colourful piece that satisfied the brief we provided excellently. She was very professional, obliging and flexible throughout the project, and managed a team of local volunteers wonderfully. I would be delighted to work with Lynne again.”
